The OnlyFans welcome message is the first thing a new subscriber receives after subscribing. It decides whether they reply, buy their first PPV, and renew next month.

Most creators waste it on a generic "thanks for subscribing, bby ❤️."

As the owner of a six figure OnlyFans agency, the welcome message is one of the first things we set up on every account we manage. And one of the first things we fix on accounts that come to us underperforming. This guide covers how to write an OnlyFans welcome message that starts conversations and converts.

What Is an OnlyFans Welcome Message?

An automatic message sent to every new subscriber the moment they subscribe. Built-in platform feature, no third party tools needed.

To set it up go to Settings, then Chats, then Welcome Message for New Fans. You can send text alone or attach a photo, video, GIF, or voice note. On our accounts the standard setup is text plus one casual photo. It makes the message stand out in an inbox full of plain text auto-messages.

If the creator speaks English confidently, we always recommend adding a voice note or a short video. Nothing converts better than hearing a real voice or seeing someone welcome you personally. It immediately separates you from every other auto-message sitting in their inbox.

Why the Welcome Message Matters

OnlyFans revenue does not come from subscriptions. It comes from DMs. And a conversation cannot happen if it never starts.

Across the accounts we manage, subscribers who reply to the welcome message buy more PPV, tip more, and stay subscribed longer. The welcome message has one job. Starting that conversation. Not selling, not listing rules. Starting a conversation.

OnlyFans Welcome Message Template That Converts

Every high performing welcome message we run follows the same structure. Four parts, three to five short lines total.

Greeting. Casual and warm, like a real text. The message should feel like it came from a person, not a system.

Thank you. One short line. Anything longer starts feeling fake.

What they get. One or two lines on posting frequency and content style, plus the fact that you actually reply to messages.

Question. The part most creators skip and the most important one. End with a question that is answerable in a few words. The question is what turns a notification into a conversation.

The welcome message template is always the same: greeting, thank you, what they get, question. Only the tone changes based on your niche. Not sure which niche fits you yet? Read our complete OnlyFans niche guide.

Should Your Welcome Message Sell?

It depends on the size of your audience.

The biggest creators and agencies send PPV directly in the welcome message and it works for them. Their subscribers have been following them on social media for weeks or months before subscribing. By the time they land on OnlyFans, they already feel like they have a relationship. The trust is already built. A PPV in the welcome message is just the next logical step.

For smaller creators it is a different story. Your new subscribers do not know you yet. If the first message they receive is a PPV offer, the message they hear is "give me more money." There is no relationship to lean on.

For accounts under a few thousand subscribers, we do not send the first PPV until the conversation has reached at least 10 exchanged messages. The only exception is when the subscriber asks for it first. A subscriber who has had a real conversation with you converts dramatically better on the first PPV than one who got cold-pitched in the welcome message.

Build the relationship first, sell second. For the full strategy read our guide on OnlyFans PPV messages.

Welcome Message Mistakes That Kill Conversions

Selling immediately. The fastest way to turn a new fan into a silent subscriber.

The corporate thank you. "Thank you for subscribing. Enjoy my content." No personality, no question, no reason to reply.

The wall of text. Nobody reads it. Three to five lines maximum. If you have more to say, send a second message a few hours later.

No question at the end. Without a question the message is a dead end.

Starting with rules. Subscribers should feel welcome before they feel policed.

How to Know If Your Welcome Message Is Working

Track reply rate. From the accounts we manage, a healthy welcome message gets 30 to 50 percent of new subscribers to reply. Below 20 percent means rewrite, usually because the question is too hard or missing entirely.

If replies are high but sales are not following, the problem is the follow-up, not the welcome message. For that read our guide on OnlyFans mass messages.

FAQ

How long should an OnlyFans welcome message be?

Three to five short lines. Greeting, thank you, what they get, and a question.

Should I include a PPV offer in my welcome message?

On a paid page, no. Sell after the subscriber has engaged. On a free page a soft offer can work.

Can I use the same welcome message forever?

Update it every few months, or sooner if reply rates drop below 30 percent.

Is a video welcome message better than text?

Usually yes, especially for GFE niches. But text with a casual photo performs nearly as well and is easier to maintain.

Do welcome messages affect retention?

Yes. Subscribers who reply to the welcome message stay subscribed noticeably longer.

Final Thoughts

The welcome message is the highest leverage automation on OnlyFans. It runs by itself, costs nothing, and decides whether new subscribers become engaged fans or silent numbers.

Keep it short, keep it personal, and always end with a question. Hold the selling until the conversation has started.
